OBKG x OSCD Dialogue

OBKG:Among international students, courses in manga, anime, and 3DCG are especially popular. At the same time, there are truly many students who wish to learn Japanese culture by studying in Japan itself.
OSCD:That’s exactly right. All of our courses begin with the fundamentals, so even students with no prior experience can start learning from zero. If you love manga or dream of working in the anime industry, having that passion is all you need.
OBKG:But, what if their dream is still unclear?
OSCD:It’s true that at first, some students find it difficult to choose just one path among design, anime, or manga. But there’s no need to worry—even if you’re unsure, students can visit and explore various courses in advance through trial classes and open campus experiences.
No one treats you as a foreigner.
This tough but friendly environment helps you grow.
OBKG:How are the actual classes conducted?
OSCD:Our greatest feature is that we do not have separate courses exclusively for international students. OSCD has approximately 600 students, of whom about 120 are international students. In a class of around 30 students, there are typically 5~6 international students.
Japanese and international students study together—sharing the same aspirations, learning in the same environment, and following the same curriculum.

Wide range of career paths. Job opportunities all across Japan!
OBKG:So that’s why OSCD graduates are able to find employment in Japan and thrive in their careers.
OSCD:That’s right. After graduating from OSCD, employers evaluate international students and Japanese students equally, without distinction.
Many of our graduates work under the same conditions and receive the same salaries as their Japanese colleagues. Starting salaries generally range from approximately ¥185,000 to ¥220,000 per month, depending on the field, level of difficulty, and individual skill level.
OSCD responsibly introduces employment opportunities throughout Japan, and we also provide reliable support for obtaining a work (business) visa, so students can feel confident and secure.
Open your future with professional skills and Japanese language proficiency!
OBKG:What level of Japanese language proficiency is required for admission?
OSCD:Ideally, we look for Japanese language ability at around the JLPT N2 level. However, students who have studied thoroughly at OBKG are very welcome, even if they do not yet hold N2 certification.
That said, the first three months can be quite challenging. Still, we ask students to come to school every day without missing classes. Simply by being on campus daily, classmates will naturally start talking to you in Japanese. After those initial three months, listening skills improve dramatically, and after one year, students can achieve Japanese proficiency comparable to native Japanese students.

The achievements of your seniors reflect what your own future could look like.
At first, you may not feel any progress in specialized skills like drawing, and it can be discouraging. However, it typically takes at least six months for these professional skills to start blossoming. After that point, you will see dramatic growth in your abilities.
Let’s overcome the challenging periods together and achieve our biggest dreams! Among our alumni, some have gone on to become chief designers at well-known Japanese confectionery companies, while others returned to their home countries and became successful manga artists.
Now, it’s your turn.
